Since 1998 I have been living in Berlin. Here are some of the stops on the bumpy road to the coolest city:

I was born late in the year of the dragon in early 1965 in Giessen, Germany. My childhood was spent in the mountains near Frankfurt until my family moved to even higher mountains – the Black Forest, where I finished school in 1984.

I refused to learn to shoot people but opted for social service which I spent working for an independent-living project in beautiful Mannheim.

In 1986 I packed a bag and travelled to the US, driving a van over bumpy roads from New York City to San Francisco. I learnt how to provide caffee lattes and ice cream sundays to sunny customers but had no good deal with the Migra. Thus I decided to go home and learn something 'decent':

however, from the end of 1986 I started studying Theatre Arts, Literature and Philosophy, with a side of Music. I (was?) bumped around quite a bit: acting, student politics, chamber choir, money jobs, a festival and internships - 'decent' fun was had by all.

Nonetheless I went for a change of locale, starting a combined "Drama and German" course at Goldsmiths' in London. A B.A. was recieved in 1992 and followed by a M.A. from Bristol in January 1994.

In February 1994 I moved to Hamburg where I lived until finally going to the capital where I have enjoyed living since 1998.
